Welcome

Since 1990 I have successfully taught both children and adults to play the piano and vocal training.

Centrally based in Romford and Brentwood, I offer 30 minute or 1 hour lessons on weekday, evenings and Saturdays.

Whether you wish to take exams, play for pleasure, learn how to read music or have always wanted to learn a musical instrument, my aim is to create lessons tailor made to you which are both rewarding and enjoyable.

I prepare students to take examinations with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, from Prep Test to Grade 8 in piano, singing and theory.

Areas of Practice

Aural training

Aural training develops skills in listening and hearing music perceptively. As a result, students will find that they are able to play or sing in tune, be able to effectively memorise music, play more musically and have the confidence in commenting on musical performance.

music theory

sight-reading

Being able to sight-reading is invaluable to any musician. By encouraging and developing this practice, students can become musically independent as they further their knowledge in understanding pitch, rhythm and melodic patterns.

scales and technique

improvising

Having the confidence to be creative is an essential tool for musicians. From very young students, improvising and composition encourages creativity and imagination and by nurturing this skill it can open up paths to discovering their own style and expression.

There is music in every child. The teacher’s job is to find it and nurture it.
